TradesRoster / For contractors

Find subcontractors for your next job.

Find tradespeople, review the work they do, and connect about your project. Use TradesRoster to browse public profiles or post the help you need for other members to respond.

Public profiles are open to everyone. Posting work and messaging members require sign-in and a profile.

Before you reach out

Make the work clear from the start.

A specific request helps someone tell you whether the job fits their experience and schedule. Prepare these details before contacting a subcontractor, wherever you find them.

01Trade and scope
Name the work you need done and where it starts and ends. For painting, distinguish prep, walls, trim, and cabinet work.
02Location and dates
Give the city and expected work dates. Mention access restrictions and whether the schedule has flexibility.
03People and equipment
Explain whether you need one person, a crew, or several trades, and who will provide materials and equipment.
04Next step
Say how you want to discuss the job, what information you need from a responder, and when you expect to make a decision.

Review the work

Look for relevant experience.

Start with the trade and location, then open a profile. Look for projects similar to yours, a description of the member's role, and the kinds of work they take on.

  • Does their work match the materials, setting, and scope of your project?
  • Do they say they take subcontract work?
  • What do you still need to ask about dates, crew size, and responsibilities?

A profile's work preferences are not confirmation of available dates. Confirm availability directly. License and insurance details are member-provided and not verified by TradesRoster.

Post your request

Tell other members what you need.

Create a help-wanted post with the job details and a slot for each trade you need. Members respond to open slots. You review their profiles and notes, discuss the work, and choose whom to approve.

Keep the post current as your plans change. Agree on scope, schedule, price, and payment directly with the people you choose.

Painting help for an interior repaint

We need a painting subcontractor for walls and trim in three rooms. The house will be vacant during the work. We will provide paint; please bring your usual prep and application equipment. The job is in Minneapolis, with a preferred two-week window next month. Please share similar work and the dates you could take it on.

Add the actual dates, scope, site conditions, and responsibilities for your job before posting.

Start with the trade you need.

Public profiles depend on who has joined and chosen to share their work. If you do not find a suitable person yet, you can still build your profile and post what you need.
